Travel to Kenya

First day in Kenya

Nature, wildlife, cultural shock, madness on the streets of Nairobi and the most desired by us,
to know about different tribes in Kenya. These were some of the thoughts that we had before to start this adventure.

While Juanra and me were smoking a cigarette in front of the taxi stand,
Lucia decided to start to exchanging some words with the taxi drivers to bargain the price of our trip to the center of Nairobi.

Once we arrived to our hostel, called Rainbow Downtown Hostel, we leave our backpacks at the hostel and we started to walk around the city.
It cannot be denied that we were so tired but we still wanted to discover what we could, since we did not have long time in the capital.

Firstly, we were in the National Park of Nairobi where we had our first contact with animals.
For our surprise there is a park in the center of a big capital  and you could visit it by taxi(first madness).
We were  talking to each other about how was possible that the animals could live in the downtown of a city.
Maybe it is normal and this is part of our ignorance.

Secondly, we found a young guy next to the exit door of the National Park.
He looked like that  he was waiting tourists to do a free tour around the city.
Then, Juanra started convincing us that we should.
Lucia and me are the type of people that when Juanra is becoming intense  we decide to keep doing what he wants jajajaja friendship.
Thus, we started the free tour with Nima, the young guy who wants to show us the best places of Nairobi.
The experience was worth it, Juanra was right.
He was telling us stories about how to survive on the streets, visit a hidden market where we tried the famous samosas of Kenya and
he also told us different tricks to contact with Masais tribe.

Finally, our first day finished with a dinner at  the Carnivore Restaurant close to our hostel.
In this restaurant we tasted all type of animals meat. At the beginning we were a little bit scared due to the fact that none of us had tried this before.

It is time to sleep and charge energy for the following days.

Words that we learned in suajili language:
